Support our special needs dogs |
Unfortunately, some of the dogs that come into Senior Dogs 4 Seniors suffer from injuries, chronic illnesses or just plain old age. These dogs would likely be considered lost causes at most shelters. Here at Senior Dogs 4 Seniors, we allow all of our pets as much time as they need to find a special home who can care for them. Please consider providing a home for these dogs. (We do not ask for an adoption donation.) If you are unable to provide a home to these dogs, please consider giving a donation for their food and medications.

Prudie |

This wonderful senior German Shepherd came to us through another rescue group after a Police raid in Jefferson County where 18 German Shepherds were removed from living in squallor in a backyard. She was one of two who came to SD4S, alas her mom or sister had multiple medical problems and didn't survive. Prudie is absolutely incredible! She is fully house trained, loves her crate, enjoys some play with her pack members, "babysits the grandpups", begs for human food (extremely well), sits with difficulty on command and snores. We've found Prudie has a number of chronic medical problems she'll have to contend with for the remainder of her life. Hips Dysplasia with knee and hip arthritis and has been diagnosed with Hypothyroidism. She is receiving 100mg Rimadyl per day and 0.6mg Thyrozine twice daily. Due to her hip and knee problems we believe it would relieve some of her discomfort if she were to have an orthopoedic bed for her weary body. This lady wants nothing more than to be petted when she wants, a warm comfy bed and to eat good food. Prudie is a wonderful Senior Lady. |

Katie is a wonderful 9 year old German Shepherd whose owner went into a nursing home. She is well behaved in the house and is totally potty trained. She weighs 125 pounds and is on a strict diet and also takes glucosamine and Rimadyl chewable pills twice a day. She needs an orthopedic bed to lie on and a person to hang out with. She has difficulty walking, which should improve as she loses weight. |

Vinnie is darling tiny toy poodle who is 5 years old. He came from a breeding facility and has a serious medical condition of a Grade 4 heart murmur. He is on special medication for the rest of his life and should try to lead a quiet life. He is very affectionate and sleeps with his foster Mom. He just needs a family to love him and he should be able to live a great life for many years.
