Support our special needs dogs
Unfortunately, some of the dogs that come into Senior Dogs 4 Seniors suffer from injuries, chronic illnesses or just plain old age. These dogs would likely be considered lost causes at most shelters. Here at Senior Dogs 4 Seniors, we allow all of our pets as much time as they need to find a special home who can care for them. Please consider providing a home for these dogs. (We do not ask for an adoption donation.) If you are unable to provide a home to these dogs, please consider giving a donation for their food and medications.
Bailey

Bailey is a sweet 10 year old (55 years old in human years) guy who is looking for a quiet forever home. He has some arthritis but gets around okay. Bailey was surrendered to us when his owner passed away. He's been a pet his whole like so he knows how to walk on a leash and will come to you to get his leash on when called. He is potty trained and goes in and out on his own. He really likes to find a comfy bed and just hang out there. Sometimes he likes to sit on the couch with you and just cuddle. Bailey is very happy sleeping on a puppy bed in the same room as you. Bailey likes to go outside and explore in the yard. Short, smell the roses kind of walks would be perfect for Bailey. He would do best in a home without small children, with or without other pets.
Bugs

Bugs is a 5 year old beautiful beagle. She is very happy and friendly and loves her people and other dogs. She is an easy dog to have in your home.
Bugs suffers from dry eyes and needs to have her eyes cleaned and drops put in twice a day. She is very cooperative and is glad to have this done.
Doc

Doc is handsome, 9-year-old (53 years old in human years) Cockapoo who is calm and well
behaved. Doc is potty trained and prefers to sleep on the floor in the bedroom.
Doc would do best in a forever home where he is the only dog or with one other dog. We do ask his new owners continue with his daily exercise as he is overweight and he enjoys his walks. Doc enjoys belly rubs, attention, tail wagging and giving
kisses! Doc does not enjoy being picked up - quite possibly because of his weight.
We do ask Doc's adoptive parents be patient with him during the transition from foster home to his forever home. He may be a little shy the first few weeks while he adjusts to his new home. We have also seen some separation anxiety with Doc, quite possibly due to losing his previous owner, and would love for him to be in a home where someone is home most of the time. He especially loves men!
Megan

Megan is an eleven year old female Shih Tzu (59 in human years) who came to us because her owner past away. She weights approx. 16 lbs. She is used to being the queen of the home. She is very friendly, but is used to having things her way. She isn't a big cuddler except for when she wants too! She will let you know. However she would make a wonderful companion because she likes to be beside you, she likes to go on walks, take drives in the car and she even still likes to play. She sleeps at the head of her foster moms bed everynight and will wake you if she needs to go outside or hears something strange. She doesn't act 11 at all. She is in very good health for her age.
Megan suffers from dry eyes and needs to have her eyes cleaned and drops put in twice a day.
Prudie

This wonderful senior German Shepherd came to us through another rescue group after a police raid in Jefferson County where 18 German Shepherds were removed from living in squallor in a backyard. Prudie is absolutely incredible! She is fully house trained.
We've found Prudie has a number of chronic medical problems she'll have to contend with for the remainder of her life. Hip Dysplasia with knee and hip arthritis and has been diagnosed with hypothyroidism. Due to her hip and knee problems she takes daily medication twice a day and sleeps on an orthopoedic bed for her weary body. This lady wants nothing more than to be petted when she wants, a warm comfy bed and to eat good food. Prudie is a wonderful Senior Lady.
Shadow

Shadow is an 8 year old pug that just needs a buddy to hang out with. He is calm and well behaved dog. He loves to sit in the chair next to you. He sleeps quietly all night in a chair in the bedroom.
Winston

Winston is 13 years old (66 in human years) and is partially blind and has trouble hearing. Winston is totallly potty trained. He sleeps alot during the day but still has some pep in his step. He has adjusted well at his foster home. He gets along well with the two other dogs in the household. Winston would do well in a home with a fenced yard so he could be outside and would do better in a home without too many steps. He also walks well on a leash. Winston sleeps in his own bed on the bed.
Winston suffers from dry eyes and needs to have his eyes cleaned and drops put in twice a day.
Yogi

Yogi is a wonderful 10 year old (56 years old in human years) greyhound mix who loves his people and just wants to be near them. He is totally potty trained and is well behaved but would do best in a quiet house. He is a very healthy dog and would make a great companion.
